Privacy & cookie policy

CatAll is a free reference site. You do not need an account to read it, and we do not sell personal data. This page lists exactly what is recorded when you open a page, which cookies are set, and how to turn them off.

Effective 2 November 2026

Who is responsible

CatAll (catall.com) is an independent editorial site about cats, published in English and Chinese. For any privacy question or request, write to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.

What we collect

We keep the list short on purpose. There are four sources of data, and only two of them are ours:

  • Server and CDN logs — IP address, requested URL, referrer, browser user-agent and timestamp, recorded by our host and by Cloudflare to block abuse and investigate outages. Kept about 30 days, then deleted.
  • Aggregate analytics — Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-GR3S3SFZ9Z) counts page views, entry pages, country-level location, device type and session length. We did not enable Google Signals or the advertising features of this property, and we never try to identify a reader.
  • Advertising — pages carry ads served by Google AdSense (publisher ca-pub-4862575955659975). Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to select, cap and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your earlier visits to this and other sites.
  • Nothing else — there are no accounts, no newsletter, no comments, no uploads and no payments on CatAll. The interactive tools (cat age, daily food, toxic plants, cost estimator, vaccine calendar) run entirely in your browser: the numbers you type are never sent to us or stored.

Cookies set on this site

We set no first-party cookies of our own. The cookies below come from the two Google services and from Cloudflare, and are only present on pages that load them:

Why we are allowed to process this (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

Security logging runs on legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): keeping the site online and free of abuse. Analytics and advertising cookies run on consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) where consent is required. You can withdraw or change consent at any time through the consent banner, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings — the site keeps working without them.

  • Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland see non-personalised ads unless they consent to personalised ones.
  • We have no access to, and no control over, the content of third-party cookies. Names and lifetimes can change; Google publishes the current list at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.

How to opt out

Blocking advertising cookies does not remove ads; it makes them less relevant. We honour Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals as an opt-out of sharing personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

California and other US state residents

We do not sell personal information for money, and we never have. Serving personalised ads through Google may count as "sharing" under the CPRA; use the opt-out links above or send the GPC signal from your browser to limit it. To request access to, deletion of, or correction of any information we hold, email [email protected] — in practice the only data we hold is a short-lived server log.

Children

CatAll is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us data, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.

How long we keep data

Server and CDN logs: about 30 days. Google Analytics: 14 months, the retention setting on our property. Ad-related data: held by Google under Google's own retention schedules. Email you send us is kept only as long as needed to answer it.

Security and external links

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to logs is limited to the site operator and the hosting provider. Articles link to veterinary sources, registries and news outlets; once you follow an external link, that site's privacy policy applies instead of this one.

Changes to this policy

When the way we handle data changes, this page is revised and the effective date at the top is updated. We do not keep old versions online, so bookmark this page if you want to compare.
