柳原佑香 Oct 31, 2026 17:03 Hello. I am Yuka Yanagihara. Holidays spent with children are full of unexpected discoveries. I go to places I would never have gone to on my own, and try things I had no interest in before. This time, I'd like to share a story about a new experience with my daughter
It all started with my daughter saying, "I want to go to a cat cafe!"
Actually, I have never lived with animals before, and I am not very used to them
So, if I were on my own, I probably never would have thought of going to a cat cafe
But if my daughter wants to go, let's go! And so, we went to a cat cafe in Kyoto
Even though she kept saying "I want to go!", once the cats were right in front of her, she couldn't quite bring herself to touch them. Haha She would approach them, stop, and then approach them a little more
Watching her, I realized that trying something for the first time takes courage, even for an adult
After a while, my daughter was able to gently touch a sleeping cat
But then, the next challenge! The cats wouldn't really warm up to us
We tried using a cat teaser and other toys. We tried trial and error together to figure out how to get the cats to come closer
So, we stopped trying to actively play with them, and decided to sit cross-legged and just wait
What I want to do for someone and what they are actually looking for are not always the same thing
